Martijn Veen Position: Advisor Country: Perú Email: mveen@snvworld.org Dutch national with eight years of professional experience, of which three years in Peru, Martijn Veen is advisor in Inclusive Business and leader of the Biofuels Program of SNV Peru, based in Tarapoto, in the heart of an important agricultural and biofuels production region within the Amazon basin. He works together with private sector, public sector and local allies in order to promote a sustainable and inclusive development of the biofuels sector, taking advantage of deforested, degraded areas and focusing on alternative, native crops such as Jatropha curcas. Prior to this, he worked with SNV as an advisor in land use planning, with regional governments and NGOs in the Amazon departments of San Martin and Loreto. Additional expertise includes payment for environmental services, in particular forestry projects aimed at receiving carbon credits. Prior to joining SNV, Martijn worked for five years at an international consultancy agency, elaborating integral land use and development plans at different scale levels, in collaboration with governments, water management authorities, nature conservation agencies, companies, etc. He holds an MSC in environmental planning and design from Wageningen University in The Netherlands. Martijn contributed to the following publications: “Base Line study on Biofuels in the Peruvian Amazon”, “Loreto 2015: a vision on future land use in the Amazon” and “Participative land use planning with communities. A methodological guide”, amongst others. Rodrigo Velasco Terceros Position: Advisor Country: Bolivia Email: rvelasco@snvworld.org Rodrigo Javier Velasco, currently Advisor in Governance for the Chuquisaca Potosí portfolio in SNV-Bolivia, is a Bolivian national who holds a BS in business administration and who has eight years of professional experience providing advisory services to the private, public, and academic sectors. He is Coordinator-Consultant and Executive Director of the Departmental Council for Competitiveness in the Ministry of Development Planning of Cochabamba; associate consultant for ALTERTEC S.R.L.; external consultant for the Private Bolivian University; and environmental consultant. He writes a column for the Cochabamba daily Los Tiempos. He holds a diploma in environmental management from the Latin American Business Center and the Mariscal José Ballivián Autonomous University; he has specialized in productivity improvement at the Pacific Resources Exchange Center, International Centre of Osaka (Japan). He also holds a diploma in higher learning from the Private University of the Valley; a master’s degree in corporate and business management and administration, specializing in finance, from the University of Santiago de Chile and the Private Bolivian University; and a diploma in export management from the Office of the Deputy Minister for Exports and the Bolivian Promotion Center. Lissy Vélez Position: Advisor Country: Ecuador Email: lvelez@snvworld.org Lissy Vélez has a wide range of experience advising private enterprise in establishing partnerships to set up value chains, as well as finding and gaining access to new export markets. She has also provided advisory services to associations and chambers of commerce by conducting studies focusing on competitiveness and strategic planning. In the public sector, she has helped provincial governments draw up and disseminate agendas that facilitate regional economic development. She has worked in CORPEI, Trust Fund for the Corn and Soybean Poultry Value Chain; the Chamber of Industry of Guayaquil; the Chamber of Fish Farming; the Expo-ECUADOR Program; the Association of Passion Fruit Exporters; the dehydrated fruit export company, Biocentinela; the Organic Shrimp Export Company; companies of bamboo producers; the Nobix Group, the La Fabril Group, the Wong Group; metalworking companies; and the provincial government of Los Ríos. She holds a BS in Managerial Information Systems from the Polytechnic University of Ecuador (ESPOL) and has attended several training programs.
