For nearly six years, she worked for commercial banks in credit, investment, and operations, which gave her a thorough understanding of Ecuador’s financial system. She also performed procurement and administrative tasks in various departments of the industrial sector, where she started her career. She holds a degree in finance and a BS in accounting and auditing. In 2001, she conducted research on “Debt Restructuring in the Housing Sector” to provide payment alternatives adapted to individual customer needs. | |

Svetlana Samayoa Position: Advisor Country: Honduras Email: ssamayoa@snvworld.org Svetlana Samayoa has more than 5 years of development experience in Central America for regional, US and European organizations that aim at reducing poverty and SMEs capacity development. She has worked for the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), Root Capital (a financial institution) and established CICOMER, a local NGO. Svetlana’s current position at SNV focuses on managing a climate change portfolio funded by international development organizations. She holds a master’s degree in finance and an undergraduate degree in economics. She has attended and participated as a speaker in climate change conferences and co-authored eight publications related to the Carbon Market. Miss Samayoa is currently President of the Rotary Foundation Committee of her Club, volunteering for developing project proposals and fundraising activities. | |

Bella Sosa Position: Advisor Country: Honduras Email: bsosa001@snvworld.org Bella Suyapa is an engineer with professional experience in project design, follow-up and evaluation, with emphasis on watershed management, and environmental impact assessment process monitoring. She has supported government institutions in drawing up platforms for the formulation, analysis, and evaluation of public environmental policies; provided support in strategic planning processes; facilitated internal assessment, analysis, and capacity building processes for environmental organizations and local government. She worked in organizations such as UNDP-Honduras in the area of natural resources; the Natural Resources and Environment Secretariat of Honduras in the area of environmental permits; the National Autonomous Aqueduct and Sewage System Service; and the Integrated Management of Watersheds. She holds a BS in animal science from the United States and a degree in environmental engineering from the Catholic University of Honduras. She is now completing a master’s degree in local development and tourism at the Central American Technological University in Honduras with Québec University, Canada. Matthew Sullivan Position: Regional Controller for Latin America Country: Ecuador Email: msullivan@snvworld.org Matthew Sullivan served as a Director of the Costa Rican Stock Exchange from 2004 to early 2010. He was initially Director of Regulation, and additionally assumed for a short period of time the Markets and Strategy Directorship. Since 2008, he was in charge of leading the design and launch of a new exchange-regulated market aimed at helping medium-sized companies find access to the capital they need in a secure but flexible environment (MAPA). During his time at the CR exchange, Matthew also designed and implemented a range of projects aimed at improving investor confidence and the quality of the market. These included the introduction of market makers in benchmark bonds and stocks; real time debt indices; exchange traded forwards for currency and interest rates; and the CR code of Corporate Governance. In parallel, as consultant to international organizations such as the IFC, BID and IMF, Matthew helped to create the Institutes of Corporate Governance in Panama and in Costa Rica; and helped to design and coordinate the project to integrate the stock markets of Central America (AMERCA). Prior to his professional experience at the CR Exchange and as financial markets consultant, Matthew previously spent 8 years at the London Stock Exchange where he was Head of Internal Audit; created the Investor Relations department in the lead-up to the Exchange gaining its own listing; and was manager of a special investigations team within the Regulatory Division responsible for detecting and routing out unusual forms of market abuse. Matthew created the biannual web investment game in Costa Rica (aka Fantasy Portfolio) and the annual Exchange National Chess Tournament. Matthew is also a Chartered Accountant by formal training and education. |
