Reintje van Haeringen Regional Director for SNV Latin America is an expert in physical planning (MS) and organizational development (postgraduate), with 17 years of professional experience in advisory projects, program management and consultancies, mainly in Latin America. She has worked as advisor to a variety of public and private organizations, facilitating organizational development processes, interactive planning processes as well as knowledge management and transfer, on subjects related to governance, local economic development and environmental management. Since 2006, as Regional Manager of Knowledge and Strategy Development for SNV in Latin America, she has been working on the development of innovative knowledge products and practices that exert an impact on poverty reduction in the region. She has published: Manual for Strategic Environmental Analysis in Central America, Ukkerman R, Haeringen R van, and Gent P van (SNV Honduras/Nicaragua, 2001); “Integrated Planning for Agroforestry Projects,” Duchhart, I, Haeringen, RPF van and Steiner, F, in Planning for Agroforestry, Budd WW et al, eds., Developments in Landscape Management and Urban Planning (Elsevier Science Publishers, Amsterdam,1990).

  Solange Hai

Solange joined SNV in 2011. She is passionate about justice and social change. She realized this her third year of university when she traveled to England, Tanzania, India, New Zealand and Mexico studying the effects of globalization and development on nature and people. In 2006, she received her B.A. in Economics from Boston University.

Since then, Solange has worked in Ecuador as an agricultural economist in development projects ranging from training small farmers to policy development.

  Evelyn Hernández

Evelyn Dinora Hernández, Advisor in Governance and Citizen Surveillance for SNV Honduras, has experience in strategic planning, project coordination and evaluation, design, training and systematization of transparency mechanisms, citizen participation, social auditing and human rights, public policymaking, analysis and evaluation, design and monitoring of institutional reform and political incidence processes. She has worked for the public and private sectors and civil society. She is candidate for a PhD in government and public administration. She holds a master’s degree in political studies and a master’s in public administration. She is an attorney and holds a degree in law, with a focus on international law. She is the author of the case study “Participatory Monitoring: Community Education (PROHECO) in Belén Gualcho, Ocotepeque, Honduras” published in Building Social Auditing Processes in Central America: Lessons Learned and Future Challenges in the Social Sector (Economic and Sectoral Studies Series of the Inter-American Development Bank, Washington) and co-author of the book Democracy and Human Rights: An Experience in Citizenship Building (Multiannual Program for Democracy and Human Rights, Tegucigalpa).
 

  Damien van der Heyden

Damien Vander Heyden has worked for 15 years in Economic Development in Latin America (Bolivia, Peru, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador). He is an expert in value chain promotion, inclusive business, micro and small enterprise development, rural development, competitiveness strategies, knowledge development, and project management.
Until 1999, Damien worked in Asia and Bolivia as a consultant for international NGOs and European Union programmes, supporting private sector development, and more specifically strengthening SME’s and small farmer organizations to increase access to competitive markets.
Damien joined SNV in 2000, leading the market access advisory area in Peru, concentrating major efforts in promoting national and regional value chains from a multi-stakeholder perspective. In 2006 he relocated to SNV Central America, leading the promotion of sustainable businesses between the base of the pyramid and private companies within a broader strategy to increase impact and strengthen social change. He is in charge of the implementation of an agreement between SNV and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) in Central America. As of January 2008, Damien works as program manager for SNV Central America, based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
Damien is an agricultural engineer, specializing in territorial development, economic development and project management, with a degree from the Institut Supérieur d’Agriculture Rhône-Alpes in Lyon, France. He is the co-author of the publications “Methodological Guide for the Analysis of Value Chains, RURALTER Platform,” as well as the “Methodology of Analysis of Value Chains with Equity for Local Development Promotion,” with SNV Peru.
